Young people should be free to enjoy their childhood, and feel hopeful about the future. But for too many, this just isn’t guaranteed.
The world is a hard place to be a young person. When Amy was referred to The Children's Society, she felt lost and overwhelmed. With help from her support worker, Nick, she was able to open up. She wants other young people to reach out for support and has featured in a short film to explain why.
Hundreds of thousands of young people have sought help for their mental health in the last year. At The Children’s Society, we know that the sooner a young person gets the help they need, the more likely it is that help will be effective. Sadly, the help young people so desperately need isn’t always available as soon as they need it.
This just isn’t good enough. The Children's Society is working to change this. We provide support to young people struggling with their wellbeing on three different levels:
-
Crisis support: providing one-to-one support to young people at crisis point
-
Early intervention: Providing early help, to prevent any issues from getting worse
-
Systems change: Working to change the system, so young people can grow up in a world where their mental health is prioritised
98%* of the young people we supported in the last year were happy with the support they received. But we won’t stop there.
Young people deserve to get support as soon as they need it. Agree? Sign your name, and stand with young people.
